Daria Sheik is the Science program coordinator at Project Drawdown. She uses her organizational and communication skills to help coordinate and advance the Science team’s critical work. She also helps manage cross-team projects and ensure that outside stakeholders and partners are engaged with our work to scale climate solutions.
Daria has occupied a number of operational roles at smaller nonprofits. She was the management coordinator at California Ocean Alliance (COA), where she managed communications, education programs, and community involvement and participated in marine mammal field research. Before COA, she was the director of operations and conservation experience at Key Conservation, a nonprofit that is creating a mobile platform to advance the work of conservation nonprofits globally. She has also worked as a studio assistant for a National Geographic photographer and as a wildlife ambassador. Daria holds a master’s degree in marine biodiversity and conservation from Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Her capstone project focused on developing a researcher arm to the Key platform that allows scientific researchers to better connect with the public and nonprofit organizations. She earned a bachelor of arts degree from University of California, Santa Cruz, in environmental studies with a focus on environmental policy.
In her free time Daria enjoys cooking excessively complex meals and painting pet portraits for family and friends.
