A seasoned media and communications professional, Todd Reubold is the director of marketing and communications — a senior leader in the organization focused on overseeing, coordinating, and implementing a broad communication portfolio, as well as managing the overall Drawdown brand. Todd’s responsibilities also include managing the development of a suite of communication products, advancing climate solutions campaigns, and building partnerships to amplify Project Drawdown's reach and influence.
Prior to joining the organization, Todd was the publisher and co-founder of Ensia—a solutions-focused nonprofit media outlet reporting on our changing planet. In this role, he was responsible for overall strategic and editorial direction, media partnerships, fundraising, staff oversight, marketing, and public relations.
Todd has also served as an associate director with the University of Minnesota’s Institute on the Environment (IonE), where he led the Environmental Media Lab—a division within IonE sharing sustainability stories and solutions with decision makers and thought leaders worldwide.
Prior to his associate director role, Todd was communications director at IonE for over a decade. During this time, he led the team that built the Institute’s overall communications strategy from the ground up and helped elevate IonE to the top tier of environmental research centers in the U.S.
Todd also leads communications workshops for academic, corporate, NGO, and government audiences around the world, and his online talk focused on public speaking and presentations has been viewed over half a million times and counting.
Todd holds a master of science degree in science, technology and environmental policy from the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs.
Outside of work, Todd enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, downhill skiing, and getting outside year-round with his dog, Denali.
